Betty Louise (Mueller) Bechtel was born to John N. & Bessie G. Mueller on September 18, 1927. She married Paul K. Bechtel on December 20, 1946, in the minister's study of the East Cleveland Baptist Church. She was active in the Church until the family moved to Youngstown, Ohio, in 1962. There, the family joined Calvary Baptist Church, where she again served in many capacities, primarily teaching Sunday School to primary-age children. Upon the death of Paul in 1995, she moved to Houston, Texas, to live with her daughter. Anchor Baptist Church, which later became Cypress Family Fellowship, was now blessed with Betty. There she continued to serve the Lord in many ways.
She leaves behind three children, David (Carol), Helen Viator (Christopher), and William (Barbara), and five Grandchildren, Rebecca Svagerko (Corey), John (Jessica), Kate Belanich (Richard), Kenneth, Robert (Jennifer) and Six Great Grandchildren, Madeline, Matthew, Richard, Benjamin, Scarlett, and Rory. Her younger sister, Dorothy, preceded her in death in 2018.
Words cannot adequately describe what a kind, caring, and loving Mother, Grandmother, and great-grandmother she has been throughout her long and productive lifetime. She was a friend and confidant for many over the years. She had a lifelong love of flowers, herbs, and gardening. And she always had a kind word for everyone. She will be missed by all who knew her.
The family would like you to remember Betty for the way she lived out this scripture, John 13:34a A new command I give to you: Love one another.
In lieu of flowers, any remembrances given in her name will be donated to missionaries that Mother loved and supported for many years.
