Barbara "Charlene" Walling

Charlene graduated from Reagan High School. She met James Bernard Walling in Houston and married on February 2, 1957. Charlene worked as an attendance secretary at Bleyl Junior High and Cypress Creek High School as well as other Cy-Fair ISD schools before retiring to live in her beloved lake house with her husband in 1991, where she lived until her passing.

Charlene was a loving and dedicated mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She also loved to host every “stray” child or grandchild that visited her. In addition to being a mother to all, Charlene enjoyed travelling the United States and occasionally other countries with her husband and dear friends.

Charlene was preceded in death by her beloved husband of over 60 years, Bernard.

Left to cherish Charlene’s memory are her children, Gail Walling Gates and husband Glenn of Magnolia, Texas, Russell Walling and Maureen Lynch and her children Alicia, Lizzie, Becca and Jo, Ron Walling and wife Marianne of Columbus, Indiana, grandchildren, Courtney McLaughlin and husband Chris of Magnolia, Texas, Brent Gates and Malissa Seabaugh of Anderson, Texas, Nathan Walling of Avon, Indiana and Isaac Walling and wife Mary, of Westfield, Indiana; great-grandchildren, Caiden and Cody McLaughlin of Magnolia, Texas, Tripp Gates and Molly Seabaugh of Anderson, Texas. She will also be missed by many additional “adopted” family members.

Serving as pallbearers are, Brent Gates, Nathan Walling, Isaac Walling, Chris McLaughlin, Matt Oliver, and Chris Jircik.

A visitation for Barbara will be held Thursday, October 19, 2023 from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM at Brookside Funeral Home, 13747 Eastex Freeway, Houston, TX 77039. A funeral service will follow and begin promptly at 2:00 PM in the Grand Oak Chapel at Brookside followed by a burial at Brookside Memorial Park.
