Barbara Ozenne Dubois passed away Monday evening, March 30, 2020 at age 83, in Katy, Tx.
Barbara was born in New Iberia, La in 1936 and spent her childhood there with her parents and her younger sister, Carole. She earned a B.A. degree in elementary education at Southwest Louisiana Institute (now U. L., Lafayette). Barbara and late husband, Dean, had been married for 56 years as of August, 2015. She taught 3rd grade for a brief period, before marrying and having children. Her life’s work was her devotion to her family, as home economist, and loving wife, mother and grandmother. She was an excellent cook, seamstress, and bridge player. Barbara and Dean were able to tour England and Scotland, when Dean worked in London in the late 70s. They enjoyed retirement years, traveling with friends to Europe, New Zealand, Alaska, upstate New York, and to Louisiana to visit family.
Barbara was preceded in death by her husband, John Dean Dubois, her mother Gertrude Gonzales Ozenne, and father Claude Ozenne. She is survived by her four children, Nanette Leonard and husband Cary, Donna Hussey and husband Stephen, Denise Taylor and husband Tray, and son John Dubois, and 10 grandchildren, Kyle and Scott Leonard, Meaghan, Greg, and Evan Hussey, Avery, Collin, and Emily Taylor, and Gavin and Maci Dubois. She is also survived by her sister, Carole Ozenne Bays.
Due to current gathering restrictions, the family only will have a visitation and graveside service early on Friday morning at Memorial Oaks Funeral Home. We welcome your cards, prayers, and condolences at this time. A memorial mass in celebration of Barbara’s life will be held at a later date, when it is once again safe for loved ones to be able to come together.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to in Barbara’s name to the church of your choice, or to St. Bartholomew Catholic Church in Katy, TX.
