Barbara was a beloved wife and mother, and dearly loved and respected teacher of 35 years, at Southwest Christian Academy, in Houston. She was born and raised in Cincinnati, the third of five children, and never lost her love of its green hills, the unique Skyline chili, Graeter’s ice cream, memories of childhood adventures, and her extended family. Throughout her life, she maintained deep bonds with her siblings and their spouses, looking forward to the annual summer visits with everyone at her sister and brother-in-law’s home in Cincinnati, and was deeply touched by their presence towards the end of her battle with cancer.
Barbara attended Texas Christian University in Dallas/Ft. Worth, where she studied early childhood education. She married and moved to Houston, had two daughters, and settled there for the remainder of her life. Some years after being left alone with her two young children, Barbara was fortunate enough to meet Larry, who has been a kind, loving, supportive, faithful, Christ-infused presence in the family for more than 30 years. They were married on December 20th, 1986.
Her deep love of God, of family, of children and teenagers; her desire to bless others; her love of learning, that was never stodgy; her relaxed, warm, casual, comfortable style; authority balanced with playfulness and whimsy; enthusiasm and willingness to empathize with others; perseverance and quiet courage were all particularly characteristic.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Walter and Elaine (Kling) Beall, of Cincinnati, OH. She is survived by her husband, Larry Alan Davis, daughters Julie (Oakes) Spalding of Chicago, IL, Heather Barrett of Richmond, TX, and ten adored grandchildren: Gabriel, Iain, Judah, Eliana, and Asher; and Oliver, Lydia, Edmund, Crispin, and Phoebe. She is also survived by her siblings, Diane (Randy) Watts, Greg (Allison) Beall, Scott Beall, and Steve (Teri) Beall, aunts, nieces, nephews, and other family.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, November 9th, 2019, at 11:00am at The Vineyard Church, 5015 Grove West Blvd, Stafford, TX, 77477. Reception to follow. Burial services will follow at Memorial Oaks Cemetery, 13001 Katy Freeway, Houston, at 2:00pm. All are welcome.
