Arthur Wilburn “Bill” Brown, Jr. of Burnet, Texas, passed away November 17, 2022 at the age of 95. He lived a long, fruitful, and fulfilling life, but for those of us that knew and loved him, his time with us was not long enough. Thank the Lord for the assurance of eternity for those that put their faith and trust in Jesus Christ, which Bill Brown did every day of his life. He was born with a sweet and kind nature, a heart of gold, and a big smile for everyone he met. He was always a joy to be around.
Bill was born in Houston, Texas on May 10th 1927. He graduated from Alvin High School and received a Bachelor of Arts degree from Texas A&M University, Corps class of 1948. He was a proud member of the Fightin’ Texas Aggie Band! Then from 1944-1946, he served in the United States Navy. He was married to Mary Juanita Brown for 48 years, before her passing on June 20, 1996. He later married Ella Mae Brown. They were married for 22 years before her passing on February 3, 2021.
He had an extended career in the rice business, working in the Houston area for Bay City Rice Dryer, Adolphus Rice Milling Company, and Comet Rice Inc. He also enjoyed the great outdoors, and spent much of his time hunting, fishing, and raising his prized Beefmaster Cattle. His greatest passions were God, family, Texas A&M University, and a good joke.
He will always be remembered with much love by his children, Kathy and Greg Sales, Vickie and Charlie Bronaugh, and Trey and Kathy Brown; his grandchildren Kalyn Garner, Molly and Alec Scaff, Tia Sales, and Mary and Ruby Bronaugh; and his great grandchildren, Niko, McClane, and Capri Scaff.
He was also loved and will be greatly missed by many extended family and friends. Finally, Bill leaves behind Peanut, his beloved puppy who is now missing her favorite human.
At 95, we can all find solace in knowing he’s been reunited with a long list of loved ones that preceded him in death. In addition to wife Mary Juanita Brown and wife Ella Mae Brown, are his father and mother, Arthur Wilburn “Son” Brown Sr. and Mildred Brown, and his beloved brother Larry Edwin Brown. What a joyous reunion it must have been for all of them.
But this is not “Goodbye,” rather it’s “We’ll see you later.”
