Arnold Wesley (“Wes”) Shaver, Jr., age 71, of Houston, Texas, passed away on February 15, 2018 from complications due to liver cancer. He was born in Ardmore, Oklahoma on January 6, 1947. Wes graduated from Healdton High School in Healdton, Oklahoma in 1965, and received his Bachelor of Science degree in Accounting from Abilene Christian University, in Abilene, Texas in 1969. Wes was a CPA in the State of Texas and worked much of his career in the oil and gas industry.
Wes married Rose Marie (Brewer) Shaver on April 21, 2007. He and Rose shared a passion for spending time with family and friends, golf, food, and travel. Even though Wes traveled extensively during his life, his heart was tied to two special places: Colorado and Hawaii. Wes loved to fish and continued the tradition established by his father by taking his own family to Lake City, Colorado for fishing and camping each summer. Wes and Rose also frequently traveled to the Hawaiian Islands in recent years. Their many adventures across the Islands remain special memories for Rose.
As active members at Grace Church Garden Oaks, Wes and Rose have positively influenced many people in the community, opening their home and hearts to anyone in need. Whether simply providing a warm meal, mentoring and offering spiritual guidance, or assisting families through job loss or medical hardship, Wes was always eager to help and was adored by all who knew him.
Wes is preceded in death by Oma Jean Shaver (mother) and Elaine Shaver (sister-in-law). He is survived by Rose Shaver (wife), Margaret Brewer (mother-in-law), Arnold “Gramps” Shaver, Sr. (father), Scott Shaver (son) and his wife Shari Shaver, Kimberly Richey (daughter), Kayla Jordan “KJ” Richey (granddaughter) and Noyes Richey III (son-in-law), Kenny Shaver (brother), Kara Cobb (sister) and her husband Don Cobb, and six nieces and nephews.

A reception will follow the celebration at the church. Because Wes loved Hawaii, please feel free to wear your favorite Hawaiian shirt.
