April Denise Smith

It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of April Denise Smith of Spring, Texas on October 13th 2020. She was a strong, loving and devoted Mother, GiGi, Sister, Daughter and Friend. She left her worldly home to be with the Lord while holding her Daughter's hand and with her Brother Parris, Granddaughter Quinn, Grandson Casen, Son-in-Law David and Sister-in-Law Janine by her side.

April was born in Dallas, Texas and raised in the countryside of Scurry, Texas. She graduated from Scurry-Rosser High School in 1984. Shortly after, April joined the United States Navy, '84-'87, and served on board the USS Canopus from 1985 to 1987. In 1988 April gave birth to her one and only child, who would forever be her best friend. She then studied automotive technology at Temple Junior College and became one heck of a mechanic.

April loved riding horses and playing pool. She was an avid Melissa Etheridge fan as well. April could dance the soles off of her cowboy boots and touch your heart when she sang. She didn't sugarcoat anything and she always spoke her mind. She was a Diet Coke drinking, mustard eating, country music loving cowgirl with a heart of gold.

April was very prideful and loved being a Mother and GiGi. She loved her family more than they could ever imagine. She enjoyed cuddling up, under a blanket on the couch, with her furbabies Sweet Annie and Dixie Mae. There was never an obstacle that April wasn't ready and willing to defeat. She was a strong and courageous warrior all the way to the end. Memories of her strength and love will be passed down to her grandchildren. April will forever be missed and held in our hearts until the day we meet again. Faith will keep us together and guide us until then.

April was preceded in death by her mother Sheila Anne Cambron.

April is survived in legacy by her Daughter, Raven Nichole Perez; her Son in Law, David Claude Clewis; her Granddaughter, Quinn Denise Clewis; her Grandson, Casen Elijah Clewis; her Brothers, Parris Smith, Troy Smith, Tommy Smith and Kelly Place; her Sisters Kimberly Claxton and Jennifer Cambron Kaplan; her Father Hazen Smith and her Mother Leslie Smith.

In honor of April Denise Smith, a Celebration of Life will take place in her hometown, Scurry, TX. Details to be shared by her family.


