She was born in Houston on the 22nd of February 1920, to John L. Maida Sr. and Lena Maida. She graduated from St. Agnes Academy in 1937, and Rice University in 1942, with a Bachelor of Arts degree. In 2005, she received the St. Agnes Academy Dominican Spirit Award for her long-term devotion to her alma mater.
Antoinette married James N. Letsos, Jr. in 1949. She enjoyed traveling the world with her husband and spending the summers at their house in Galveston with family and friends. As the grandchildren arrived, “Mimi’s” house became the family gathering place for Sunday pasta lunches. She was a devoted member of St. Michael Catholic Church and enjoyed attending daily mass. She was a member of the Charity Guild of Catholic Women for over 50 years.
Antoinette was preceded in death by her parents; her brother, Salvador Maida; her sister, Jeanette Rinando; and her husband, James N. Letsos, Jr. She is survived by her sons, James N. Letsos, III, Greg Letsos and his wife PD, Mark Letsos and his wife Patti, her daughter, Karen and her husband Bill Case; her ten grandchildren; and four great grandchildren.
A recitation of the Holy Rosary is to be conducted at half-past five o’clock in the afternoon on Wednesday, the 3rd of February, in the Jasek Chapel of Geo. H. Lewis & Sons, 1010 Bering Drive in Houston. Immediately following, all are invited to greet the family during a reception in the adjacent grand foyer from six until half-past eight o’clock.
The Mass of Christian burial is to be conducted at ten o’clock in the morning on Thursday, the 4th of February, at St. Michael Catholic Church, 1801 Sage Road in Houston, where Msgr. Frank H. Rossi, S.T.L., is to celebrate. Honored to serve as pallbearers during the services are Mark Letsos, Jr., Chase Letsos, Keith Letsos, Jordan Letsos, William Case, James Case, Michael Case, and Christopher Case. Serving as honorary pallbearers are Vincent Rinando, John L. Maida, John Rinando, and Salvador Maida.
The Rite of Committal will follow, via an escorted cortege, in the Garden of Gethsemane at Forest Park Lawndale Cemetery.
Immediately following, all are invited to share remembrances of Mrs. Letsos during a reception at a venue to be announced during the services.
In lieu of customary remembrances, the family requests with gratitude that contributions in memory of Antoinette M.
