Born February 11, 1930, to Parker Anthony and Constance Robertson in Fort Worth, Texas, Tony spent his childhood years in Tunbridge Wells, England and Tyler, Texas. His family eventually moved to Houston where they lived in The Warwick Hotel & Apartments, the current location of Hotel ZaZa. Tony joked that Hermann Park had been his backyard. He attended Lanier Middle School and graduated from St. Thomas High School in 1948. Tony earned is B.A. from The University of Texas in 1953 and was a member of Beta Theta Pi.
Tony proudly served in the United States Army. While stationed at Fitzsimmons Army Hospital in Denver, Colorado, he met the love of his life. Tony and Jean Nell Sutton were married in 1960. They moved to Houston where Tony became a lifelong insurance salesman. He cared much more about the people and his policy holders than he cared about the sales part of his job. He was called to help others and did so by helping them find good insurance. Tony loved his vocation and taught Life Underwriting Training Council (LUTC) classes for over twenty years, earning the Ed Zelinski Award for dedicated service. He finally retired at age 87.
Tony is preceded in death by his parents, Parker and Connie Robertson; wife, Jean Robertson, and his beloved dog, Skeeter. He is survived by children Steve and Karen Robertson, Greg and Kate Robertson, Cindy Jensen and Ann Jeppesen, Holly Kendall and Randy Burley; Grandchildren Ryan and Victoria Kendall, Christina Jensen, Caroline Robertson, Davis Robertson, Parker Robertson, Spencer Burley, Brittany Burley; Great-granddaughter Ada Kendall; and his faithful canine companion, Heidi.
Juana Castellano and Ann Chambers made it possible for Tony to spend as much time as possible at home before he eventually moved to Autumn Leaves Memory Care.
Tony never met a stranger. He was upbeat and positive, always telling others how great they were – even if he had just met them. His conversations typically ended with, “I’ve just got to tell you one thing. Don’t ever change.”
