Born in 1947 in Houston, Texas, he was the devoted son of Anthony and Anna Palasota. Anthony Palasota, Jr. was a graduate of the University of St. Thomas and held doctorates from the University of Toronto and Rice University. For most of his professional career, Professor Anthony Palasota was the Director of the Center for Legal Pedagogy at Thurgood Marshall School of Law, Texas Southern University. He was also an adjunct professor for Houston Community College and Alvin Community College, as well as the University of St. Thomas.
Anthony was an active member in the art community, known for his newsletter, “Art and Other Events.” He was involved in many political, social and human rights organizations. Anthony loved literature, art and cooking and often was known by the name, “Chef Extraordinaire.” Anthony will be most remembered by his passion to educate, his smile, gentle nature, and giving heart.
He is survived by former wives, Jackie Bumpers and Carmen Wong, M.D.; aunts, Marie Triola and Josephine Triola; and numerous cousins. He will be missed by all.
Friends are cordially invited to a visitation with the family from three o’clock in the afternoon until eight o’clock in the evening on Friday, the 8th of March, in the Jasek Chapel of Geo. H. Lewis & Sons, 1010 Bering Drive in Houston, where a recitation of the Holy Rosary is to commence at seven o’clock, led by Deacon Woods Martin of St. Michael's Catholic Church.
A Mass of Christian Burial is to be offered at ten o’clock in the morning on Saturday, the 9th of March, in the Chapel of St. Basil at the University of St. Thomas, situated on the corner of West Alabama Street and Yoakum Boulevard in Houston, where the Rev. Anthony Giampietro, C.S.B, is to serve as the celebrant.
The Rite of Committal is to follow, via an escorted cortege, at Forest Park Lawndale Cemetery in Houston.
Afterwards, all are invited to greet the family during a reception at Mixed Emotions Fine Art, 95 Tuam Street in Houston.
Honored to serve as pallbearers during Saturday's services are Anthony's cousins: Michael Benestante, John M. Carrabba, Vito Scooter Iacono, Jim Pinto, Nick Polito, Tony Triola; and his lifelong friends, Earnest Jackson and Paul Lorenz.
In lieu of customary remembrances, memorial contributions may be directed to Catholic Charities of the Archdiocese of Galveston-Houston, 2900 Louisiana St., Houston, TX, 77006; and also to the BARC Animal Shelter, 3200 Carr St., Houston, TX, 77026.
