Annie Lou Thomas, 90, died peacefully on January 20th, 2013. Annie, a native Houstonian, was born April 13, 1922 to John Frank and Lillie Blair and was one of six children. She graduated in 1939 from Jeff Davis High School and shortly thereafter met her life long sweetheart Ellwood Thomas. In 1943 Annie took a train to San Francisco where she and Ellwood were married while Ellwood was on R & R from the US Navy. After being apart for the remainder of the war they spent 65 wonderful years together until his death in 2009. Annie and Ellwood settled in Houston where they raised their two wonderful sons, Tommy and Gary. Their life’s heartbreak was losing their son Gary in 2002. Being the strong, kind hearted person she was Annie continued to touch others. Annie’s love of hard work and a desire to provide for others she was always willing and able to work outside of the home. Ahead of her time she juggled raising two boys while maintaining a successful career. Annie began working for the Bobbitt Glass Company in 1961 and after the death of Allie Bobbitt in 1983 she became the company’s owner. Annie loved her job and continued to maintain the business well into her 80‘s.Waiting for Annie to join them are her husband and son, Ellwood and Gary, her parents, John Frank and Lillie Blair, her brothers, W.D. Blair and Maurice Blair. Her sisters, Gladys Taylor, and Zonetta Taylor. Annie is survived by her sister Jane Jones, her son Tommy Thomas and wife, Cheryl; the daughter Annie said she never had. Their children, Annie’s grandchildren and greatest joys, Zachary Thomas and his wife Tiffany, Ashley Pate and her husband Jeffrey and her three great grand children Layton, Addison and Ellery, as well as many other loving nieces, nephews and friends. The family would like to thank the staff at Belmont Village Assisted Living for all their special care of Annie in her time of need.
