Annie M. Hughes, 72 of Houston, Texas passed away March 7, 2018 at 5:07 pm.
Annie Mae was born on September 2, 1945 in Greenwood, Louisiana to Clemmie and Mary Woodson. She graduated from Walnut Hill High School in 1965. She was active in her class, and she participated in student council and other class activities.
She and her husband, Aubry Dean Hughes were married on July 16, 1967 and they enjoyed 50 years of marriage. They lived in South Houston for 5 years, and moved to Aldine for the next 40 years. She retired from Aldine ISD after 18 years of service as a Child Nutrition Food Technician.
Annie Mae loved her daughter, four sons, nieces, nephews, grandchildren, friends, and loved ones with all her heart. Loving and giving in her communities her whole life. “Grannie Annie” was a shining example of a loving individual.
Annie Mae is preceded in death by her parents, Clemmie and Mary Woodson; five sisters, Carrie, Lydia, Correen, Zettie Mae, Sarah; and her two brothers ,Monroe and Clemmie Woodson Jr.
She is survived by husband, Aubry Dean Hughes; daughter, Rita Lynn Hughes; sons, Robert Earl Hughes (Monica), Randy Lewis Hughes (Johane), Howard H. Hughes, Reginold Louis Hughes (Merrissa); grandchildren, Chastin Tremaine Hughes, Abdu-Jabari Osna Wiley II, Carter Jackson Hughes, Khloe Madison Hughes, Ronald Semaje Vaughn, Donovan Jeremiah Hughes, and Kyra Joi Hughes; sisters, Mary Elizabeth Jones and Katherine Woodson; and a host of nieces, nephews and cousins.
Funeral Services will held at 11:00 a.m. March 17th at First Baptist Church – North Houston, 4420 Lauder Rd. Houston, TX and burial service at Rosewood Cemetery, 2602 S. Houston Ave, Humble, TX.
