Beloved adopted daughter of the late Edwin Kenneth Rivard and late Mother Alda Olin Rivard; beloved sister of the late Virginia Caldwell, the late Mark Rivard, the late Judith Rivard and survived by brother Scott W. Rivard.
She was also survived by her loving husband Mathias A. Strommer, son Mathias E. Strommer and grandsons Mathias D. Strommer and Blake A. Strommer, daughter Elisabeth A. Boggs and grandsons Nathan J. Boggs and Noah L. Boggs.
Anne graduated from Ashland High School in 1958 and continued her education with a full scholarship at Kent State University, graduating in 1962. She received her master's degree in library science from the University of Michigan, on a work-study program from the Detroit Public Library. At Kent State University she met her future husband, Mathias A. Strommer. They married on January 3, 1965 while he was on Christmas leave. After returning to the US from France, Anne continued her librarian career at various military installation libraries and then the Houston Public Library. From 1981 until her retirement in 2001, she was a librarian and then Director of Information Technology at the Lonestar College System. Following her retirement, Anne was a dedicated volunteer for 20 years at the Mercer Arboretum and Botanical Garden in Spring, Texas. In addition to her love of books, she also enjoyed music. She sang in her church choir, high school choir, and the Kent State university Choir. A high light was singing with the US Army Europe community choir in the performance of Handel’s Messiah in Heidelberg, Germany.
