She graduated from Tucson High School in 1938; from the University of Arizona, Cum Laude with a B.S. degree in 1942. She taught English and girls Physical Ed at Coolidge High School, in Coolidge, Arizona 1942-1943.
During World War II she worked as a flight dispatcher at Ryan Air Base, Tucson, where she met and married her late husband of 62 years, Robert Martin Jorda; who was an Army Air Corp flight instructor. After WWII ended Anna worked as a placement advisory for Los Angeles City College from 1947-1949. The family became residence of Houston in 1958 when transferred here with Shell Oil to the Bellaire research center, where Robert was a production engineer.
She was a volunteer gallery guide lecturer and docent at the MFA, Houston from 1975-1985, sharing her intent and knowledge in pre-colonial art, and the arts and crafts of the Native American Indian.
She was actively involved, in American Association of University Women's society of the Petroleum Engineer auxiliary; and a volunteer reader for taping for the blind, she is a member of Presbyterian Women of Grace at Grace Presbyterian Church.
She is survived by her daughter, Diana Jorda; her twin grandson's, Jason D. Evans, and Jarod B. Evans, both of Washington D.C.; Sister Peggy Whalen of Santamaria, California. She was proceeded in death by her husband Robert Jorda, parents George, and Jettie Pottorff, and brother George Pottorff Jr.
A funeral service will be held Tuesday, November 22, 2016 at 10:00 am in the Chapel of Grace Presbyterian Church. 10211 Ella Lee at Sam Houston Toll Way with Dr. Mike Fry officiating. Interment will be private at Houston National Cemetery.
