Angie was a beloved "queen", wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister, aunt, and a wonderful friend to many. A native Houstonian, she attended Woodrow Wilson Elementary, Lanier Jr. High, and Lamar Sr. High. As a child, she enjoyed playing at Cherry Park.
She was preceded in death by her wonderful husband Thomas Allen Jones, the love of her life for 50 years. Their claim to success in marriage was they were best friends, and always went to bed at night, holding hands and kissing one another. In 1946, they bought the house of their dreams in West University Place, where she continued to live until her death. She was also preceded in death by her parents, John Joseph and Patricia Mercado. Her father taught Spanish at Reagan High School.
She was a member of West University United Methodist Church for over 50 years. She was involved in her children's lives: started West U. Elementary Prep Squad, a den mother, cub scout leader, and blue bird leader. She was blessed by having three beautiful children: son, Tommy Jones; daughter, Linda Pizzi and husband Paul; and daughter, Jackie Lloyd and husband Raymond. She had loving grandchildren: Stephanie Reitmeier and husband Justin; Jennifer Whitworth-King and husband David, Tommy Jones III, Jeffrey Schoettlin and wife Ashlie, Collin Schoettlin and wife Alaina, Raymond III and wife Emily; and extended families. She also had wonderful great-grandchildren: Kayden Reitmeier, Kyleigh Reitmeier, Kole Reitmeier, Colten Whitworth-King, Emma Whitworth-King, Emerson Whitworth-King, Wyatt Schoettlin, Sydney Schoettlin, Brody Schoetllin, Cash Schoettlin, and Gunnar Schoettlin.
Angie is survived by: her brother, Robert Mercado, wife Carmen, and son, Bobby; her sister Gloria Malone, and her daughter Pat, and her son, Dempsey; and half-sister Juanita Franz. Angie was very close to Robert, Gloria, and Juanita growing up. She also had so many wonderful nieces and nephews.
What a blessed life Angie had. Angie's love, beauty, and laughter will never be forgotten.
A funeral service will be held on February 15, 2014 at 10:00 at Forest Park Lawndale, with interment immediately following. A reception will be held at Forest Park Lawndale following all services.

In lieu of flowers, Angie has asked donations be made to Shriner's Cripple Children and Burn Center, or West University Place Fire Fighters Association.
