Grandma Birdy delighted in the lives of her 23 grandchildren, 39 great grand children and 9 great-great-grandchildren. They love her and will miss her dearly.
Her annual Christmas Party was a favorite tradition for friends and family alike. Her homemade tamales were a staple for many dinner tables. And though they may not taste exactly the same, her family has promised to continue making tamales and homemade rice and serving them up every December.
She was an avid volunteer as Room Mother and PTO Officer in HISD for her children and some of her grand-children, especially endeared by many at Neff Elementary. She was a San Jacinto Girl Scout Troop 4075 Co-leader and recipient of the Family Award in 2000.
She was a skilled seamstress and also crafted dozens of knitted and crocheted works of art, especially her baby blankets and crocheted Christmas angels and ornaments. She was an avid gardener and loved plants and flowers. Her green-thumb was the envy of many she knew.
She was a loyal friend to many and a valued and loved member of her retirement community, where she lived independently until her passing. Her friends there will miss her presence at Craft Sessions, her help at party gatherings and her involvement, and enjoyment, at Bingo games!
Her family thanks the nursing staff that helped Amanda at Memorial Sugarland Hospital and the excellent care she received from the staff of A-Med Hospice. Our sincere appreciation to Mr. H.L. Hill and Sandy Ramos.
Visitation is scheduled for family on Friday, July 27, 2012 from 4 to 5 PM. We welcome friends and family from 5 to 8 PM. Memorial Services will be held at Forest Park Westheimer at 10 AM Saturday, July 28, 2012.
