

Alton Wayne Welborn of Galena Park passed away on March 21, 2025 at the age of 93. He was born in Mitchell, Louisiana on June 27, 1931 to the late Houston and Mae Leysath Welborn. Alton attended Galena Park High School and was a proud veteran of the U.S. Air Force from 1951 to 1955, during which time he served in Germany and French Morocco. He married the love of his life, Eleanor Kay Rains, on December 10, 1955.
He proudly worked as a letter carrier with the United States Postal Service for 25 years, and was a member of First Baptist Church of Galena Park. He served as a past Worshipful Master of Galena Park Masonic Lodge as well as a past District Deputy Grand Master. He was also a 32nd degree Scottish Rite Mason. Alton’s favorite past times included fishing and playing music with his many friends.
Alton was preceded in death by his parents, wife, Eleanor Kay, brother, Glenn Welborn, brother, Don Welborn, and sister, Sally Fuselier. He is survived by his brother Jimmy Welborn, son Mark Welborn, and daughter Kimberly Kyzer and husband Michael. Grandchildren Stephanie Nabors and husband Dustin, Kayla Hinson and husband Kevin, and Jedidiah Kyzer. Great grandchildren Luke Hinson, Olivia Nabors, Lilly Hinson, and Scarlett Nabors.
The visitation will be from 5-8 pm, Wednesday, March 26, 2025 at Forest Park Lawndale Funeral Home. The Funeral Service will be held on Thursday, March 27, 2025 at 10 am at Forest Park Lawndale with interment immediately following at Forest Park Lawndale Cemetery. Pallbearers are Jedidiah Kyzer, Byron Jones, Geno Salias, Michael Kyzer, Dustin Nabors, and Kevin Hinson. Honorary Pallbearers are Mike Boyett, Steve Benson, Gary Freeman, Dale Finney, Maurice Estlinbaum, Robert Hood, Billy Henry, Coy King, Jimmy Hunter, Jimmy Beathard and Jack Brown.
