Alicia passed peacefully on August 11, 2019 in Houston, TX with family by her side. Alicia was born on January 8, 1958 in Clarksdale, Mississippi to Eva & Luther Calloway, the youngest of 8 siblings. “Lici”, as she has affectionately been called, was the darling child of the family, imbuing all with her sweet, gentle spirit, and loving nature.
As a young child, Alicia professed faith in Jesus Christ and was baptized at the Galilee Missionary Baptist Church in Kalamazoo, Michigan. She attended Kalamazoo Public Schools. She was participated in the yearbook staff, basketball, track, and cheerleading. Alicia graduated from Kalamazoo Central High in 1976 and began her post-high school education at Western Michigan University. Alicia graduated from LeTourneau University – Houston, Texas with a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration. She earned a Paralegal certificate from Rice University graduate studies program in 2015.
In 1980, Alicia ventured out and relocated to Houston, Texas to pursue her career goals. She attended the Berean Seventh-day Adventist Church and was baptized in 1981, where she has served diligently for over 35 years in the offices of Church Clerk, Secretary, Adventist Youth Leader, Communications Director, Hospitality leader, Community Service director, and Pathfinder Director.
As Community Service Director, Alicia served faithfully for 8 years. She restarted the partnership with the Houston Food Bank, which led to an average family impact of approximately 500 individuals per month.
As Pathfinder Director, Alicia continued the Berean legacy of “no child left behind” for the 2014 International Pathfinder Camporee in Oshkosh, WI, which was enjoyed by approximately 50,000 Pathfinders from 80 different countries.
Alicia also sang in the choir for a time, and never missed preparing the church bulletins every week for 15 years. “Miss Alicia”, as she was addressed so respectfully by the youth, was a mentor and supporter of the young and old, and ministered to the needs of the sick faithfully, applying principles of natural healing & God-given remedies. Her delicious vegetarian dishes will be missed by all and her ability to serve & satisfy large crowds is marvelous & matchless.
Alicia served as the realtor for 4 of 6 property acquisitions by the Berean Seventh-day Adventist Church.
Alicia served as the hospitality chairman for the West Point Parents Club of Houston, Texas. In her role. Alicia made sure that the fall admissions and Hail and Farewell for the cadets and families would be memorable for incoming and outgoing cadets for the United States Military Academy in West Point, NY. She also served as an admission representative for the University of Pittsburgh at the Klein High school college night and booster club president for the Klein High School Lady Bearkats Basketball team for 3 years.

VALIC (an American General subsidiary as Marketing and Communication Analyst
Arthur Andersen, LLP - Senior Knowledge Management Analyst.

In 1983, Alicia met the love of her life at a church potluck, Estes Dewayne Williams, and they were united in marriage on March 11, 1984. To this blessed union were born a son, Justin DeWayne Williams, and a daughter, Eva Patrice Williams.
Alicia leaves behind a multitude of family, friends, coworkers, and clients, all awaiting a grand reunion in an eternal heavenly home. Among these are: devoted husband & father, Estes DeWayne of Houston, TX and Mother-in-law Gladys Williams of Vicksburg, MS and Children Justin Dewayne Williams and Eva Patrice Williams.
Brothers: Fred Valentine (wife Helena) of Washington, DC, Curtis Calloway (Regina) of Louisville, KY, and Luther Calloway, Jr. of Orlando, FL; Sisters: Mae Joyce Calloway of Olive Branch, MS, Mildred Ivy (husband Jerry) of Petersburg, VA, and Magnolia Massenburg of Tucson, AZ. She also is endeared by a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, in-laws, church family, neighbors & friends.
Alicia will be remembered for her spirit of embracing challenges to make the best of them and encouraging others to enjoy life while serving the Lord and our fellowman.
She selflessly gave of her time, resources, knowledge, and personal self to empower, sustain, and help others succeed.
She will no doubt, hear her Heavenly Father say, “Well done, thou good & faithful servant! Enter thou into the joy of the Lord!” Let’s all make plans and be prepared to join her at the soon return of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.
