Alba D. Alvear

Alba Daisy Alvear was born in Matagalpa, Nicaragua on December 1, 1938 to two missionaries Carlos A. Alvear and Dora Maria Robleto. The oldest daughter in a family of five, she started school in Jinotepe, Nicaragua. She went on to get degrees in physics, biology, and chemistry at the Universidad Nacional Autonoma de Managua and set off to be a high school teacher. During this time, she found and married Jose A. Lopez in Managua, Nicaragua and gave birth to three children.

Raised and matured through the Assembly of God, strived to lead a true Christian lifestyle always. She joined the First Baptist Church of Managua and gave Sunday school lessons to the adults. Went on various missionary trips to help and spread the good word. Consistently read the Bible and advised the younger generation to do so as well.

She started her teaching career at private school Pureza de Maria, and soon began to build her reputation as a strict and on point teacher and a straightforward woman with good work ethic. She was admired by colleagues and students alike. Eventually gained the nickname Papel y Lapiz because everyone knew that when in her classroom it was time to put in work. Even when she changed schools to a private Baptist high school her reputation proceeded her. There she was able to take her students on trips to help the poor and sickly, she instilled in her students the needs of the world.

She came to the United States to be with her daughter to see her first grandchild be born, she got a big surprise when her first grandchild were twin boys name Joseph Daniel and Victor Daniel Garcia. She immediately felt in love with her grandkids, then returned to Managua to resign her position to come back to the USA to help raised her newly born grandchildren. As years pass welcomed her third grandson Samuel Daniel Garcia, her only granddaughter Yessenia Nebeska Lopez, her fourth grandson Andres Daniel Garcia, and her last grandson Jonathan Issac Lopez.

Daisy was funny and loving with an outgoing personality and a perfectionist in everything she did. She loved to play her guitar, piano, singing, doing puzzles, crosswords, travel, shopping, talking about the Bible and world issues. She was an excellent dancer and was considered the “Life of The Party”. As she grew older, she held on to her youthful appearance and her beautiful coordinated dress code with many accessories.

In 1993 she perused the American Dream and when back to University to enrolled in the Teacher Certification program. She began teaching in Houston Independent School District at Browning Elementary school there she taught gifted students and continued for the next 12 years.

Daisy is proceeded in death by her parents; Carlos and Dora Alvear, her late husband Jose A. Lopez and her son Luis A. Lopez. She leaves: her daughter Doramaria and her husband Daniel Garcia and her son Mario J. and his wife Masiel Lopez, her sister Vida E. Alvear de Rivas and a brother Carlos A. Alvear, 6 grandchildren: Joseph Daniel, Victor Daniel, Samuel Daniel and Andres Daniel Garcia, Yessenia Nebeska and Jonathan Issac Lopez. And 6 great grandchildren: Alyissa M. Garcia, Sonia Rojas, Gianni S. Garcia, Kayrene S., Kezia I. and Vicent D. Garcia along with a host of cousins, nephews, relatives and her 2 special friends: Mirian Leiva and Leticia Lopez.
