Molly Davison Molitor

Molly Davison Molitor was born on December 23, 1939. Her time on this earth came to an end on April 29, 2023, when she joined loved ones in Heaven. She loved her rich childhood growing up on a farm in Marvell, Arkansas. She was the daughter of James Davison Molitor and Josephine Suddath Molitor. The Molitor family had relocated from Germantown, Tennessee to Marvell in the late 1800s. At first, they set up as retail merchants and later began farming. Molly’s grandfather, Edward Price Molitor, was a county judge. The days growing up in their home just east of town were rich in southern traditions.

Molly graduated from Marvell High School where she was all-district in basketball, homecoming queen, and performed in many plays. Molly started college at Mary Baldwin University, until she later transferred to the University of Arkansas where she pledged Pi Beta Phi and completed her degree in Education. Among her many accolades, Molly was crowned Miss Marvell in 1958, and represented Marvell in the Miss Arkansas pageant that same year. Singing was her special talent which served to pleasure many throughout her lifetime. After graduating, Molly worked for Parks and Tourism where she was often photographed for ads. She worked for Dale Bumper’s campaign and several other Democratic races. She moved to Aspen, Colorado in her early 40s and managed an upscale condominium at the base of Aspen Mountain. She returned after a few years to settle for good in Little Rock where she managed the Lagniappe Inn and later worked at the Arkansas Nature Conservancy.

Molly was indeed a free spirit with a captivating personality. She was a genuine person, and you could always count on knowing exactly what she thought. She remained a strong person of faith throughout her life as a member of Pulaski Heights Methodist Church. Along with her brother, E. P. Molitor of Rogers Arkansas, Molly always had a special place in her heart for her hometown of Marvell and her family heritage. Her daughter Andria Nowlin Beckham and her husband Rod Beckham will now carry on her legacy along with Molly’s two grandchildren Sarah Molitor Beckham and Jack Davison Beckham.

A very special heartfelt thanks to all who gave Molly care in recent years at The Atrium at Serenity Pointe Memory Care and Arkansas Hospice in Hot Springs. A family graveside service will be held on the first Saturday in May at Eventide Cemetery in Marvell, Arkansas.
