Mary Cantu Wood, 96, of Hot Springs, Arkansas, passed away peacefully on Sunday, July 23, 2017 at the Quapaw Nursing & Rehab Center. She was born on February 2, 1921 in Raymondville, Texas. Mary worked at Remick's drugstore until she married Audrey Wood, in 1957. They moved to Galveston where she worked at a bait shop. Then they moved to Timpson, Texas where they retired and worked on a farm. She enjoyed working outside, reading, writing letters, word finder games, and participating in the activities at the nursing home. She always loved speaking with everybody, telling stories and loved to laugh. Mary was always positive and showed great strength despite her challenges. She was loved by everyone whose life she touched. She is survived by her niece, Irene (Larry) Gonzales from Texas; her great nieces, Laura (Dustin) Lawhorn from Alabama, Leah (Robert) Trevino, Lisa (Bryan) Smith both from Texas; niece, Diana Flores from Texas and many other extended family members. Preceding her in death was her husband of 39 years, Audrey E. Wood; her sister, Sofia Cantu Barrera; and her brothers, Jesus Cantu, Guadalupe Cantu; and nephew, Oscar Cantu.
