Lanny Kay Gorman, Sr. of Hot Springs, Arkansas passed away June 28, 2024. He was born in Hot Springs to Charles L. Gorman and Lillie Ann Craig Gorman on March 2, 1939. He grew up in Pine Bluff, Arkansas.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his brother, Robert L. Gorman and his nephew Donny Graves.
His survivors include his wife, Beverly, with whom he shared 60 blessed years. Also surviving are his sons, Lane and his wife Vicki of Little Rock, Greg of Little Rock, and Russell and his wife Debbie of Hot Springs. He was Pop to his granddaughters, Hannah Gorman and her fiancé Adam Hoffman, Natalie Gorman, Grace Gorman, and Kealey Burrow all of Little Rock, sister-in-law Ann Gorman ,nephew Chris Gorman, niece Angie Riley, sister-in-law and brother-in-law Diane and Don Graves of Hot Springs, extended families of Blair Bates, Dana Bates, and Edmund Jaskiewicz. Also survived by his Wirges cousins in the Sherwood area, the Craig family in Delight, good friends Ronnie and Becky Woodfield and the family of Tina Gray.
Lanny was a Pine Bluff Zebra. He graduated from the University of Arkansas. Lanny proudly served in the United States Army. He retired from the Hot Springs Housing Authority after 20+ years as executive director. He enjoyed running, golfing and boating.
Lanny loved God and studying Sacred Scripture. He attended Lake Hamilton Baptist Church and looked forward to Bible study and fellowship with his Sunday school class each week. He took pleasure in sharing God's Word. Seven years ago, he began a personal mission to share free, new, very nice, readable Bibles by placing them in special bookcases in thrift stores in the Hot Springs and Hot Springs Village each month. Lanny was partnered in this endeavor with his brother-in-law, Don Graves when he retired to Hot Springs. Keeping Christ in Christmas, he would have his children and grandchildren light Advent candles, and read appropriate scripture at their annual Christmas gathering. Lanny would also send copies of The Daily Bread to family and friends with notes of spiritual encouragement.
Respecting his wishes, there will be a family graveside service honoring him at Morningstar Cemetery this week conducted by Pastor Chuck DeVane, Jr.
