It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Jimmie Hughes on April 19, 2024 in Hot Springs Village, Arkansas. Jimmie was born on March 12, 1936 in Magnet Cove, Arkansas to the late Buford Hughes and Martha Thurber Hughes Irwin and graduated from Hot Springs High School in May of 1954.
After earning, a doctoral degree in Administrative Education, Mr. Hughes served as superintendent in Imperial Valley, California. He proudly served our country in the United States Army as a military police officer. In addition to playing golf, fishing, deer hunting, and being very active in all sports throughout the years, he was also an active member of Masonic Grand Lodge F. & A.M. New York.
Cherishing his memory are his wife, Mary Ann Hughes, whom he married in 1959 in Newfane, New York; and his brother, Eddie Hughes, (Amber); sisters, Virginia Thacker, and Rita Parrish ; nieces/nephews Kayla Casada, (Josh), Rhonda Denette Hughes (dec), Lee Roy Muldoon (Robbie), and Shea Hughes, (Emmanuel Williams); and great nieces/nephews, Zach Ross, Ally Ross, Jacob Hughes-Gourley, Megan Hughes, Adrian Hopson, Tevin Hughes, Derynn Owens, Alye Muldoon, Angel McCombs (Glen), Dustin Smasal, and Nickie Smasal .
Funeral services will be held 3:00 PM, Friday May 3rd, 2024 in the chapel of Gross Funeral Home.
Visitation will be held from 2:00 until service time on Friday.
Serving as pallbearers are Zach Ross, Josh Casada, Steve Hill, Emmanuel Williams, Tevin Hughes, Adrian Hopson and Derynn Owens.
