He was born September 21, 1942 in Pearcy, Arkansas to the late George Houston & Doshia Leona (Rowell) Sligh. He was a proud graduate of Lakeside High, class of 1960. Darrell was a self-employed logger and loved carpentry. His craftsmanship was nothing less than perfection. He was a devoted Christian who loved reading the word of God, spreading the Gospel and was known by his testimony. He will be remembered for his love of God, nature and the great outdoors.
On July 22, 1960, Darrell married the love of his life Norma LaRue Allen. They have spent the past 61 years together during which time their family has grown to include three daughters, Cheryl Knight, Kim McCraw and Tammy Reynolds (Jason); loving granddaughters, Kristi Kveum (Michelle), Nicole Knight, Ashley Diedrich (David), Allison Weems (James), Alexandrea Riggan (Paul), twelve great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. Also left to cherish his memory are two brothers, Gerald Sligh (Katherine) and Barry Sligh (Kathy).
Visitation will be 10:30 am Sunday March 13th at Gross Funeral Home Chapel with funeral service beginning at 11:00 am with Bro. Bryan Sligh officiating. Burial will follow at DeRoche Cemetery, Bismarck, Arkansas.
Pallbearers are David Knight, David Diedrich, Daren Sligh, Mike Hardage, James Weems and Jason Reynolds. Honorary pallbearers are Josh Allen, Andrea Theroux, Gerald Sligh, Jr., Dr. Halah Al-Dadah & her nurse Missy, Dr. Cleveland and Cody & staff and the staff of Arkansas Hospice.
Friends and Family will meet at 122 Vista Loma St., Hot Springs, AR after the graveside service.
