Fred Jones, also known as Freddie or Joe (by his family) was born in Hope Mills, NC. He was affectionately called PawPaw by his grandchildren Christina, Zikeyra (Kiki), Lil Russell, Will and Chiyna, and was known as PawPaw Fred to all their friends.
Fred Served in the U.S. Army and was stationed at Ft. Bragg, NC. After his military service, he joined Cumberland Road Fire Department, as a firefighter for many years. He then worked in construction at Ft. Bragg for over 30 years before founding his own construction business F&R Construction, in 1996. He retired around 2007 due to health issues. Despite retirement he kept busy with odd jobs here and there. He enjoyed tinkering in his garage, either fixing things or, as his family would say, breaking them.
Fred had a deep love for animals, especially his fur granddaughter Cujoe and his beloved cat Scooter. Fred was known for his love of animals, often taking them into his home. He had a deep love of hunting and fishing, but did less of both in later years due to health issues. Fred was always ready and willing to help anyone in need. He was loved and cherished by many.
He is survived by his long-life companion Dianne Jones of the home; daughter Lynne Holder and husband Brian; son, Russell Jones; and his five grandchildren Christina Snipes and husband Trey, William Holder, Zikeyra (Kiki) Jones, Russell Jones (lil), and Chiyna Jones. He also leaves behind several pets.
Fred was preceded in death by his mother Lovie Reaves; brother Robert Bullock; sister Ellen Bass; beloved cat Scooter and fur-granddaughter Cujoe.
