Alfred Eugene Hammar

Alfred was born in Youngstown, Ohio to Wilford and Ruth Hammar on June 15, 1933.

He led a very fulfilling life. He served in the Air Force from 1951 to 1955, serving in the Korean War. He was married to his Wife, Linda, for 48 years until she passed away in 2019. Alfred was a proud member of Grace Church in the Mountains in Waynesville, North Carolina, as well as The American Legion. Alfred was a jokester, always pulling someone's leg and his sister-in-law, Sherry, fell for it every time. He also enjoyed woodworking, and woodcarving.

Alfred is preceded in death by his parents; his loving wife; his brother, Robert Hammar; and his son, Terry Hargis. He is survived by his sons, Alfred Hammar Jr (Dian), Michael Hammar (Teresa); his daughters, Michelle Hammar-Sabatelli (Alessandro), and Margo Hammar; as well as 16 grandchildren and 18 great grandchildren.

A memorial service for Alfred will be held at 3:00 PM on Tuesday, July 1st 2025 at Grace Church in the Mountains located at 394 N Haywood Street, Waynesville North Carolina, 28786.

His family invites you to a reception in Thatcher Hall at the church, after the service.
