It is with great sadness and a heavy heart that the family of Nicholas "NIC" Laplante announce his passing on 22 May 2020. Nic was an energetic, adventurous, ambitious, and easygoing person. He will forever be remembered as a loyal friend, colleague, loving husband, and father. If you knew Nic he would give you the shirt off of his back or his last dollar without hesitation to help anyone out in need. Nic was also an avid rock climber, enjoyed cycling, running, hiking, surfing, and spearfishing with his son Ethan. He was a decorated combat veteran. He enlisted in the Army as an infantryman and had several duty assignments to include Fort Riley KS, 10th Mountain Division NY, and Fort Jackson SC. He also served as a Green Beret with the 3rd Special Forces Group, Operation Detachment Alpha (SFOD A) Fort Bragg N.C., and the Defense POW/MIA Accounting Agency (DPAA) Joint Base Pearl Harbor-Hickam Hawaii as the Senior Special Forces Medic. His goal one day was to become a specialty park ranger since it encompassed his love of the outdoors, medicine, and helping people. Nic will be greatly missed, his laughter, wittiness, sense of humor, knowledge, and the love he had for his children.
