Nālaniokilauea “Lovey” K. Akina, born Lovey Davida Mahealani Mahelona, 68, of Kane’ohe, Hawai’i, passed away at 6:55pm on Tuesday, January 24, 2023 in Kailua, O’ahu. She was born in Honolulu, Hawai’i and was preceded in death by her husband, Benton Ghim Fook Akina, who passed away on November 18, 2022.
Lovey would have celebrated her 69th birthday on Thursday February 9. She worked in the medical field and was a homemaker. A genealogist and mixed media artist; Lovey enjoyed various arts, floral arranging, scrapbooking, music & family.
Funeral services will be held on
Sunday, February 19, 2023 at
Borthwick Mortuary, Maunakea Chapel
@ 1330 Maunakea St. Honolulu, HI 96817.
Open Visitation 12:30pm with Service to follow from 1-4pm.
Cremation and scattering at a later date to be determined; as were their final wishes to swim together forever.
