Remember a special summer that Margaret & Paul invited the Naz youth group to come enjoy the backyard pool on a hot day. It was a great day of fellowship, eats and good fun!  Mahalo nui loa for the special memories!

I remember that day, after I sang my song,
"Mahalo Ke Akua" Margaret, had called me over to her side as she & Paul, were waiting for you at curb side.
She shared her thoughts (as she held my hand), of how much she really enjoyed my song and raved on about it. She, also shared that my voice was that of an angel, (oh my I thought), that was very kind of her to express that gesture!
I took it with great pleasure and appreciation, and told her, that God, was my inspiration for blessing me, and in turn I praised His Grace with that song.
She always enjoyed being at Windward Nazarene and for me, being in service helping Margret and Paul, at church, or when they'd both attend luncheons at Bay View Golf Park, gave me that special feeling of helping my grandparents that I've long missed.
I will always have fond memories of Margaret and have a special place in my heart for her & Paul. I know she's finally with her best friend and love, Paul Stevens, and now may they both rest in peace and love.
My deepest condolences to you, Janette, and your entire Ohana. May you all be blessed with God's blessings, Eternally."

"Your email has brought forth memories ... I have searched them and remember one small detail that might be appropriate:  when I was 15 or 16 my mother sent me via Greyhound bus one summer to visit my sister and her family in Greenville, Mississippi where Paul was stationed.  I was mooning over some boy or other and spent the entire time listening to George Gershwin’s Rhapsody In Blue, over and over, day after day, for two whole weeks.  It must have driven Margaret crazy, but she never complained.  I also recall watching her cook fried chicken and delicious smothered pork chops, both a real treat...

Dear Janette & family,
What a joy it has been to have known Margaret & Paul in their senior years at Kailua Church of the Nazarene. Margaret’s smile was so bright & beautiful ! When she would greet us at church  you know it was genuine and she was so happy to see us!! We enjoyed talking story with her & Paul after church &  sometimes we were the last ones to leave.  Her love for Jesus was beautiful & now she is worshiping face to face with our Lord & Paul by her side.  How blessed we were to apart of their o’hana while living in Hawaii. Love & prayers to the family.

May 1987: Mother was full of the Lord. Such joy. Such peace. Such a blessing. 

Part 2 of 3 

Despite all the flaws in Mother’s and my relationship—which in many ways we both have failed at in this world—one true thing stands: She loved me enough to show me Jesus, and I love her enough to go after Him fully. While some may judge the way I have “honored” my mother, I’d say the best way to honor her is to go full-force after Jesus, obey His every lead, and carry on in Him. I’m far from perfect—no question—but still pursue Him with all my heart. I know Mother wanted this for me, from me. No compromise.
From when she got saved through the summer of 1990, Mother taught me, by her own example, to go hard after Jesus. She instilled in me a holy, eternal pursuit which is embedded in me now. I will never quit.
Can you stand the thought of your kids not being in heaven? Dare I say to us parents and would-be parents, if we aren't giving our kids Jesus, we’re missing our greatest mark, and theirs. It’s on us. Let's be relentless in the Lord. Mother did it. So can we.

P.S. Mother would’ve enjoyed this music video. She does enjoy children. It’s written by a 10 year old.

In memory of Margaret Anne (King) Stevens

What came first: the chicken or the egg?
     For all I know, I could’ve been an “accident”—an “unexpected surprise”. Whatever the case, I arrived. They took on the responsibility of raising me, rather than aborting me. But even more importantly, Mother took on the most noble role in my life: She met Jesus around 1974, then pursued me for Jesus…relentlessly. Her timing was impeccable. She’d press, then back off, press a little more, then back off again—a trait we don’t know her to ever have. She even bought me my first “born-again” Bible BEFORE I got born again, and even kept it under wraps. It wasn’t until I got saved in 1975 that she gave it to me. Too cool!
     To boot, Mother then got me into the best book in the Bible for new believers—the Book of John—by inviting me to Women’s Bible Study Fellowship for a nine-month, in-depth study of John. That provided excellent grounding, which surely gave me the anchor I needed for the rest of my life.
     While some would say the best gift a mother could give her child is birth itself, I have to say the best gift is ETERNAL life…in HEAVEN! Because of her Spirit-led persistence in pursuing my born-again life in Jesus, I can’t help but KNOW the best and most loving thing Mother did for me was give me Jesus…better, and more important, than natural flesh birth itself. (Thank you, Mother, so very, very much.)

Margaret had a great and infectious smile that came quickly and a heart full of love. She was filled with God's spirit and grace. Until we meet again.

There is a part of me that will always miss seeing Margaret each Sunday.  Paradoxically, the ache of seeing her without Paul is now gone. Few people have managed to stand the tides and times together for so many years. Few have loved this well and set such an example for so many over the years. Her impish humor and ready grin will always warm my heart. I can’t wait for the day when I will see both Margaret and Paul again!  What a joy that will be!

Margaret was a very sweet lady. I never saw or heard an angry tone from her, ever. Both she and Paul were the perfect couple, I am so glad to have known them. Her children and grandchildren are wonderful people. Blessings to the family. Paul and Margaret are together again, in peace.

We loved Paul and Margaret; we especially enjoyed their stories of life during war (WW2) and of how they met — while both of them were serving their country.  Both were intelligent, articulate persons of faith: a joy to know. Glad they are together again for eternity. Much love to Janette and the entire ‘ohana. 

I will miss Margaret's smiling face and greeting after each church service.  She blessed me just by being there.  God bless you all as you prepare for her memorial service.

Margaret was love and light! Sunshine to our hearts! She was always inclusive, wanting to care for newcomers and making everyone feel like family! She was about the business of the Lord, and about family! And, all of us were her family! I loved the way she and Paul were ONE, always together, even dressed on Sundays in same colors! Cute!
Paul and Margaret never missed a Sunday when they were well, and they always participated in all the church activities. Servants hearts! Great role models for all of us! Thank You, Jesus, for gifting us with Margaret! I know she’s lighting Heaven with her smile!!
