Sonja "Sunny" Robbins Roberts

Sonja “Sunny” Robbins Roberts, 72 of Lecanto left this world to be with the Lord on Sat., July 21, 2012 at Hospice House in Lecanto amongst family and friends. She was born Sept. 29, 1939 in Bluefield, West Virginia. She was preceded in death by her parents, Helen Henrietta Robbins and Rush James Robbins. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her very special uncle, Bill Lindamood and her step-son Allen Carroll Roberts. Sunny graduated from Clearwater High and moved to this area in 1973 from Palm Harbor, Florida. After many years with Brannen Banks in Crystal River, she retired as Branch Manager. She loved her Church and was an active member of the First Baptist Church of Lecanto. She enjoyed her family, friends, sewing, cooking, NASCAR and traveling in her motor home.

Sunny was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister and friend.

She is survived by her husband Ellis Herman Roberts of Lecanto; daughter Robin Mahoney Townshend (Bill) of Pine Ridge; step-sons Ellis Herman Roberts, Jr. (Theresa) of Cocoa Beach and John Michael Roberts of Lecanto; sister Helen Laura Moeller (Chuck) of Tupelo, MS; granddaughter Savannah Jo Townshend; 4 step-grandchildren Hailey, Chase, Ashley and Morgan Roberts, and nieces Laurie Robertson and Rhonda Simpson.

A celebration of Sunny’s life will be held 11 am, Wed. July 25, at the First Baptist Church of Lecanto with Pastor Gary Bailey officiating. Interment will follow at the Magnolia Cemetery in Lecanto. Friends will be received at the church on Wed. from 10 am until the hour of service.
