Jimmie Wilma Riddle, 84, passed peacefully in the home of her daughter in Homosassa, Florida on Wednesday July 20th, 2022. She was surrounded by her beloved children; a granddaughter and the Hospice care nurses. She was preceded in death by her parents, Edwin B. Grist and Anna (McCoy) Grist; brothers, Max J. Grist Sr. and Edwin W. Grist; son, John E. Riddle, and grandson Wesley A. Riddle. Jimmie was born March 11, 1938, in Kokomo, Indiana. She was a child prodigy that learned to play the piano and entered formal education at the age of 3. A 1955 graduate of Kokomo High School, she went on to marry and gave birth to her older two sons in Denver, Colorado. Returning to Indianapolis, Indiana, she gave birth to her younger two children and was a homemaker for a few years before pursuing her passion in nursing. She earned her BSN at IU School of Nursing. Her contributions to the medical field were long lasting as attested by those that worked with her. Healthcare locations that benefitted from her practice included Indianapolis, IN; London, OH; Monticello, IN; Lafayette, IN; Algoma, WI and Ocala, FL. Jimmie was also active in the churches she attended and had a heart for missions. She also supported numerous charities throughout her lifetime with St. Jude being one of the dearest. Other interests included spending time at her brothers’ lake homes in the summer. She loved to decorate for the holidays especially Christmas. She would host slumber parties for her grandchildren & great niece, bake cookies, buy matching pajamas for the entire family, take pictures, lay out a spread of finger foods and play cards for hours. Visiting her children that were out-of-state also held many adventures she enjoyed. Another one the highlights of her life was living in a condo on Lake Michigan with her longtime best friend, Helen Street of Monticello, IN. She cherished the years spent in Algoma, WI, the friends they made and being able to travel worldwide together. She is survived by sons: Tim {spouse Belinda} Riddle of Lafayette, IN, and Jim {spouse Jinny} Riddle of El Paso, TX, daughter Linda {spouse Louis} Marando of Homosassa, FL, thirteen grandchildren, twenty-three great-grandchildren and one on the way. A Celebration of Life will be held in her home state of Indiana on October 8, 2022. (Time and location to be announced.) Special thanks to the staff at Crystal River Health and Rehabilitation and Restore Therapies for 14 years of intermittent restoration and extension of her quality of life, VITAS Hospice of Citrus Co. for end-of-life comfort and support and Wilder Funeral Home for handling our mother with the utmost care and dignity. Memorial donations in Jimmie’s memory to any of these entities to enhance the quality of the services they provide would be greatly appreciated.
