Gary E. Land, 74, of Homosassa, FL, passed away on Saturday, June 20, 2020 at his home. A native of Batavia, NY, he was born Sept. 22, 1945 to Frank and Bertella (Rupert) Land, one of six children. Gary served his country honorably and proudly for 16 years in the U.S. Army and was a Vietnam War veteran, attaining the rank of Staff Sergeant. He was a professional truck driver, loved Coca Cola, and was a Harley Davidson enthusiast, owning a number of motorcycles during his life, and he was a member for many years of the American Legion, both in New York and Crystal River, FL. Mr. Land moved to Homosassa in 1991 from Derby, NY, and in addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister Betty. Gary is survived by his beloved wife of 37 years, Joyce A. Land of Homosassa; four loving stepchildren: Deborah Haney (husband Peter), Citrus Springs, FL; Melissa Meyer (husband Michael Calderelli), Buffalo, NY; Deanna Simoneit (husband David), Buffalo, NY and Kurt Meyer (wife Jill), Silver Creek, NY; siblings Frank Land (wife Diane), Wyoming; George Land (wife Ruth), Chile, NY; Ken Land, Pinellas Park, FL and Rose Olson (husband Richard), Destin, FL; eleven grandchildren and seven great grandchildren.
