Virginia Elizabeth Davis, known as Cricket, passed away on June 18, 2023, in Birmingham, Alabama, in a tragic car wreck at the age of 19. Cricket attended the Advent Episcopal School, and The Altamont School, in Birmingham and had recently completed her first year at the University of Alabama.
Cricket was an intelligent, happy, and outgoing young woman who always had a smile on her face and a love for Jesus. She was a proud member of the Delta Zeta Sorority at the University of Alabama where she had great experiences and made great friends. In her year since joining Delta Zeta she loved to wear the sorority letters. She also had great friends outside of her sorority from both the University and from her high school days. At Altamont, she was co-captain of the Altamont Tennis Team, in the Thespian Honor Society, Spirit Club, and on the Yearbook staff. Cricket enjoyed singing, acting, writing music, playing the piano, and attending concerts. She had a beautiful voice and sang solo at multiple school assemblies, and sang at an open mic in New York City. She won many awards both locally and state wide for voice and acting including "Supreme Individual Dramatic Solo," "Superior" solo in French and "Best Supporting Actress."She wanted her brother, Preston, to someday produce her music. She had acted in more than 10 plays. She had played basketball competitively, loved the beach, lakes, travel, and her pets. She was a very active young woman, never wanting to sit at home, always wanting to be out doing something. Of all the activities she engaged in, she mostly liked spending time with her friends and family.
Cricket worked summers at Attic Plus and the Davis & Norris law firm. She was competitive and ambitious, planning to attend graduate school and was recently talking about going to law school. She thought of perhaps attending Cambridge University.
Cricket is survived by her mother, Lea Bone, her father, Frank Davis, her step-mother Ruth Davis, her brothers Preston and Courtland Davis, her step-sisters Lori, Marissa and Alicia and her niece and nephew Ingram and Hamby Davis.
