Samuel Ewart Russell Jr., age 100, of Birmingham, Alabama passed away on Thursday, November 18, 2021. Samuel was born September 30, 1921 to the late Samuel Ewart and Susan Wishart Russell. He was a graduate of Ramsey High School and Birmingham Southern College.
Mr. Russell served as 2nd Lieutenant in the United States Air Corp during World War II as a navigator in a Night Fighter Squadron. After returning he served as President of Russell Realty and President of CCIM Birmingham Chapter.
Mr. Russell was preceded in death by his parents and a son-in-law Wallace Robert Clopton. He is survived by his loving wife of 66 years Mary Naughton Russell, his children: Brandon Russell and wife Nancy Shealy, Marcus Russell, Katherine Clopton and Marley McWilliams and husband Michael. Also left to treasure memories are his grandchildren Scott Russell, Katie Brannan and William McWilliams and his great grandchildren Connor and Mason Brannan.
A graveside service will be on Saturday, November 20, 2021 at Elmwood Cemetery with the Deacon John Cooper officiating.
In lieu of flowers memorials in memory of Samuel Russell, Jr. may be directed to the Greater Birmingham Human Society or your favorite charity.
