Robert (Bobby) Wylie Shepherd died October 11, 2021, at the age of 84. He was born April 20, 1937, to Everett Shepherd, Sr., and Ida "Bobbie" Wylie Shepherd. Bobby graduated high school from the Kentucky Military Institute, and then from the University of Alabama, where he received a degree in Commerce and Business Administration and was a member of the Phi Delta Theta fraternity. He served his military obligation in the Alabama National Guard. Bobby also received a law degree from Cumberland School of Law at Samford University, after which he entered his family real estate business and, together with his two brothers and cousin Charles Sharp, developed Brookwood Village shopping center. He spent many years in the real estate business, serving as president of the Birmingham Association of Realtors and the Alabama Association of Realtors. Bobby is preceded in death by his parents and by his brothers, Everett Shepherd, Jr., and James Wylie Shepherd. He is survived by his wife of sixty-two years, Virginia Smith Shepherd; son Everett Shepherd III (Hugh); daughter Mary Berkeley Shepherd Pritchard (Pete); and granddaughter Margaret Pritchard Wiles (Grayson). The family will be ever grateful for the lovingkindness of his loyal and patient caregivers, Jackie, Sherrell, Susie, Joyce, Bonnie, April, and Janice. A graveside service will be held Wednesday, October 13, 2021, at 11:00 am at Elmwood Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be sent to your favorite charity.
