It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved Dr. Richard A. Gallo. He passed away peacefully at his residence, Shoal Creek, on December 6, 2024, at the age of 71. Richard was a devoted husband, a loving stepfather, and an exceptional member of his church and community.
Born on March 7, 1953, in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, Richard was the youngest child of Andrew and Erna Gallo. He grew up in Milwaukee and graduated with honors from Alexander Hamilton High School in 1970. Richard received his Bachelor of Science Degree from the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee in 1974. He graduated from the Medical College of Wisconsin, in Milwaukee four years later. This was followed by a residency in Anesthesiology. He spent 35 years working as an Anesthesiologist and was respected for his hard work, dedication, and expertise. Richard loved his patients, and they loved him!
Richard met the love of his life, Betsy Gallo, and they were married on December 16, 2017. Through his union with Betsy, he was blessed with three children, four grandchildren, and two great-grandchildren, whom he loved and adored. Richard was a dedicated family man who cherished every moment spent with his loved ones. He was a man of integrity, always putting others' needs above his own. Richard will be remembered for his infectious laughter, generosity, positive attitude, and playful nature.
Richard had a wide range of interests and hobbies, including snow skiing, International Chess and Bridge, handball, and hockey. He participated in bowling tournaments and won numerous trophies. He enjoyed watching football in his free time, especially the Wisconsin Badgers and the Green Bay Packers. Richard was a dedicated member of the choir at Briarwood Presbyterian Church. He was known for his infectious laughter, his kind heart, and his willingness to help others.
Richard was preceded in death by his parents, Andrew and Erna Gallo, and his older sister, Andrea Vrchota. He is survived by his wife, Betsy Gallo; his children through marriage: Chris (Tracy) Stewart, Scott (Stephanie) Stewart, and Tammy (Brad) Gill; his nieces, Brandie Vrchota and Michelle Cooper; and many other family members and friends who will miss him dearly.
Visitation will be held Friday, December 13th, at Double Oak Community Church-Mt. Laurel Campus. Visitation will take place from 12:00-1:00 p.m. with the service following at 1:00 p.m. Richard will be laid to rest at Southern Heritage Funeral Home and Cemetery in Pelham. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital. Richard will be deeply missed but never forgotten. May he rest in peace until we see him again.
