Rebecca Elizabeth McBride (Becky) Ferguson sadly left us on April 23rd following a courageous fight with cancer. Born in Birmingham, Becky was the oldest child of John Vance McBride Jr (deceased) and Rebecca Joe Yancey McBride. She is survived by her loving husband of 36 years, Scott Hart Ferguson, her daughter Corey and son Keegan, her siblings Debbie Mathews (Larry), John Vance McBride (Betsy), Ramona Lee McBride, and Amy Ward (Wes), cherished nieces and nephews and many beautiful great nieces and nephews.
Becky's journey began in the tight-knit Avondale Community in Birmingham, where she formed lifelong connections and cherished memories. A proud graduate of Ramsey High School, she went on to earn an engineering degree from Vanderbilt University and a master's degree from The University of Alabama. Her dedication to her education was only matched by her unwavering commitment to her faith.
From a young age, Becky was deeply involved in the Methodist Church community. Her gentle spirit and compassionate heart touched the lives of all who crossed her path and her legacy lives on in the hearts of those she touched. She will forever be remembered for her boundless love, kindness, and unwavering spirit.
A sense of wonder at the world inspired everything Becky did. Never bound to a single road through life, her path led her to become a church Youth Coordinator, a board member of the Alabama Wildlife Rescue Service, a founder of an acapella group, a regular attendee of the Alabama Shakespeare Festival and a trained Life Coach.
Becky was not just a fabulous big sister, loving mother, inspiring life partner, and true friend - she was a light in the lives of all who knew her. The words of her friends speak volumes about the impact she had on them.
"She was a gentle soul with a kind heart, and she was a blessing to me...I felt welcomed because of her."
"She was one of the best and I'm glad I got to know and share time with her."
"I'm a better person because of Becky. I didn't know that deep friendship love like that existed until years of knowing Becky. I'm glad I told her every chance I could."
Becky's presence was a gift to all who knew her, and her memory will continue to inspire those who were fortunate enough to have her in their lives. Her legacy of love and kindness will be cherished.
