On July 16, 2020 Oliver Gordon Robinson, Jr., MD. passed away at the age of 89, in Birmingham, AL. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grand father, surgeon, pilot, sailor, farmer, friend and child of God. He was graduated from Ramsey High School and The University of Alabama School of Medicine. He did his medical internship at City Hospital in St. Louis, Missouri with both his surgical residency and fellowship in plastic and reconstructive surgery at The University Of Mississippi Medical Center in Jackson, MS.
He practiced plastic surgery in Birmingham, AL for over four decades. In addition, he and his wife Katharine Moughon Robinson, began The Robinson Foundation in 1981 providing much needed surgical care to patients in Honduras. He was passionate about his life's work and the patients he felt so honored to care for.
He was preceded in death by his parents Oliver Gordon and Mable Crenshaw Robinson and his sister Mable Crenshaw Robinson. He is survived by his wife Katharine Moughon Robinson, his son Oliver Gordon Robinson III (Stephanie), daughter Katharine Robinson Cooper (Nelson), and sister Pattie Perry Robinson Finney. He has a legacy of six grandchildren: Katharine Robinson Davis (Will), Stephanie Robinson Meadows (Jimmy), Melissa Jane Teel Robinson, Michael Gordon Cooper, Rebecca Katharine Cooper and Mallie Moughon Robinson and four great-grand children.
In lieu of flowers the family requests donations be made to a charity of your choice or UAB Comprehensive Cancer Center.
