REARDON, JOHN E. Our beloved husband, Dad, Papa, Uncle, Brother-in-law, friend, passed away today, December 31, 2012. Memorial services will be held at Johns Rideout Chapel on Oxmoor Road on-January 4, 2013 at-10:30 a.m. for Visitation and 11:00 for Service, Reverend Henry McDaid officiating. John was born on November 15, 1930 in Monroe, LA to Herbert (H.H.) and Carolyn Reardon. He attended Culver Military School. He graduated from LSU and continued with a Masters in Mechanical Engineering from GA. Tech. University until studies toward his Ph.D. were interrupted by the call of six children. He started his career at Boeing Aircraft in Seattle, WA. and later came to Hughes Aircraft, here in Birmingham. In 1970 he and his partners started Remtech Inc. John was the expert on plume radiation and was considered to be the "go to man", for NASA and Boeing for the Saturn V and all Space Shuttle Programs. Upon retirement he was given an award that read "The dreams of a boy and an old man are merged through a lifetime of professional engineering leadership". He is predeceased by his parents H.H. and Carolyn Reardon. Also his brother, Patrick and nephew Kelly Reardon. He is survived by his wife Pat Hartnett, his sons Patrick (Jean), Michael and Christopher. His daughters Lisa, Stephanie Koell (Eric), and Julie. Also his stepdaughter Kristin Maetz and stepson Michael (Christy) Maetz. He is also survived by his grandchildren, Cole and Amelia Reardon, Andrea, Christina, and Julian Koell; Aiyana Reardon; Ellie, Nate and Lukie Maetz; Rhaine, Erin and Rory Murray; great grandchildren Carson Vansickle, Olivia Fountain and Laney Murray; many brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, extended family and many friends. He is greatly missed by family and friends. He was a kind, loving, tender soul, and gentle man. In lieu of flowers the family requests donations to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital .
