Ben was born in Ozark, Alabama to John Branch Carroll and Mary Powell Carroll. He graduated in the class of 1955 from Dale County High School in Ozark. He was an Eagle Scout, attended Auburn University and was a member of Sigma Alpha Epsilon Fraternity.

After retiring, Ben served as Senior Warden at the Cathedral Church of the Advent and on the board of St. Martin’s in the Pines. He served for 25 years at the Firehouse Ministries homeless shelter. One of Ben’s great joys was spending time in his garden and sharing his flowers with those in need and anyone who needed cheering up.
A visitation service will be at 1:00PM on Friday, January 27th at the Cathedral Church of the Advent followed by a service at 2:00PM.
In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to the Cathedral Church of the Advent’s Music and Pastoral Care ministries (https://adventbirmingham.org/).
