He was medically retired in 1980 due to injuries sustained in the line of duty, after 13 years service. He was raised and educated in the Westport Greens Farms area. He enjoyed playing golf and was an outstanding baseball and softball player in the Westport, Ct. area.
He graduated from Westport, Ct. Staples High School in 1962; and joined the Army Reserves and was honorably discharged in 1969. He was a member of the American Legion and the VFW Men's Auxiliary.
Survivors include his brother Daniel "Dan" Duffy (wife Pauline) of Davie, Florida his sisters Patricia and Kathleen Duffy both of Davie, Florida, as well as a nephew Brian Duffy (wife Christine) of West Haven, Ct.
In addition to Richard's wife, the late Gloria Duffy, and his parents C. F. Neil and Barbara Duffy, Jr. he was predeceased by his only son Darrell.
Funeral Services will be private.
A Memorial Service will be held in October, location and date not yet confirmed.
