Mary was born in Guayaquil, Ecuador, to Heriberto Zambrano and Julia Sanchez on July 13th, 1935. She went to school in Guayaquil. She married Presley E. Acuna on January 12th, 1957, in New York City. She worked as a beautician at Fashion Beauty Salon for 5 years. Then, she joined forces with her husband and acquired the neighborhood toy store, HobbyLand, in Washington Heights, which they owned for two decades. She then moved to Florida, where they opened an interior design company. She was involved in assisting the community through her work with FEMA in the aftermath of Hurricane Andrew. She received a certificate of commendation from the governor of Florida.
Mary is preceded in death by Guillermo Zambrano and Dayse Zambrano.
Mary is survived by Presley E. Acuna, Fabiola Rodriguez, Presley Acuna Jr., Jesus Rodriguez, and Kimberly Maier, Julio Zambrano, Santiago Zambrano, Gabriella Castaneda, Erik Rodriguez, Katerina Acuna, and Emily Acuna.
A Celebration of Life Gathering will be held from 1:00 to 4:00 pm on Saturday, March 2nd, 2024, at Fred Hunter’s University Drive Home. Arrangements by Fred Hunter Memorial Services.
