Leroy Patrick Somers

The funeral service will be held at 11am on Saturday, April 23, 2022 at Fred Hunter Funeral Home Room 1 6301 Taft St, Hollywood, FL 33024. Pastor Keith Butler of Logos Baptist Church will be officiating. Visitation will be held from 4pm - 8pm on Friday, April 22, 2022 at Fred Hunter Funeral Home, Room 1. Burial will follow the funeral at Hollywood Memorial Gardens Cemetery at 12:30pm. Funeral arrangements are being handled by Fred Hunter Funeral Home.

Roy was born in Kingston, Jamaica on September 22, 1937. 

Roy was married to Jasinta “P” Somers in 1987; they were married 34 years.

Roy worked as a truck driver for Capeletti Brothers Construction, Inc for a number of years. He enjoyed gardening at home, listening to what he calls “sweet music” reggae music, watching old western movies and TV shows, loved track and field and wrestling. 

Roy is survived by his spouse, Jasinta, siblings: Joyce Adderley and Ruthlin Dickens-Ferguson, children: Junior Somers (Valerie), Dennis Somers, Paul Somers (Jenae), Leroy (Lee) Somers II, Joann Somers, Michelle Somers Spence, Latoya Somers and Karen Somers Mathis (Duane). Grandchildren: Monique, Dominique, Ophila, Anthony, Sheldon, Valentonia, Dennis, Daniel, Britney, Shantel, Tyler, Shaneka, James, Kalena, Cy’riah, Leroy III, Xzavion, Dominic and Kennedy. Nieces and nephews: Leo Johnson, Antwan Dorsett, Porcia Dorsett, Trevor Lewis, Yvette Lewis, Marcia (Sharon) Crossman, Ann Marie Dickens, Leela Dickens and Les Dickens, a host of great grandchildren, grand nieces and nephews and other family and friends.

Roy is preceded in death by Zitta Ferguson (mother), Leila “Cherry” Wilson (sister) and James Facey (brother).
