Jerry Smith Hackett

Jerry was born in Fayetteville, Tennessee to William Roy Smith and Bessie Andrews on May 30, 1933.  She went to school at South Broward High School in Hollywood.  She married John D. Hackett on May 26, 1951 in Hollywood, Florida. She graduated from Broward Community College. She worked as an Occupational Counselor for Goodwill Industries for over 20 years.  She was very involved in Sheridan Hills Baptist Church, where she taught Sunday School.    

Jerry is preceded in death by John D. Hackett, husband, Rachel Hackett, granddaughter, Joshua Hackett, grandson, Ruby Joyce Smith Gonsalves, sister and William Roy Smith, brother.  

Jerry is survived by four children: Pamela Petersen (Martin) daughter, John A. Hackett (Cheryl) son, Elizabeth Pace, daughter, and David Hackett (Jennifer) son; eight grandchildren: Matthew Petersen (Maria), Timothy Petersen (Kristin), Steven Petersen, J.D. Hackett, Aaron Pace (Elka), Jason Pace, Alyssa Doerr (Hugh), Nick Bois; fourteen great grandchildren; as well as her sister Betty Jo Smith Jordan.

A Celebration of Life Gathering will be held at 10:00 AM on Thursday, August 8, 2024 at the (Sheridan Hills Baptist Church Chapel. Arrangements are by Fred Hunter Funeral Home.
