Roy was born in Grand Rapids, Dec. 25, 1950 to Syne and Esther (VanDe Riet) Bierma, who preceded him in death.
He graduated with a Bachelor’s Degree from Calvin University, and eventually did graduate work in Texas and California. He was a lifelong resident of West Michigan, enjoyed watching sports, and was an avid reader of religious books.
He is survived by his brother and sister, Garth (Margaret) Bierma and Heather (Lee) Mulder; nieces and nephews Paulina (Mark) Gillett, Christy (Trevor) Claus, Nick (Grace Emma) Bierma, Nicole (Russell) Davis, Dylan (Lindsay) Mulder, Allie (James) Cobb, and Amber (Kyle) Townsend; great nieces and nephews Lexie, Jordie, Dannie, Frederick, Jesse, Greta, and Gabriel; many cousins, extended family and friends.
A celebration of Royce’s life is being planned and will be announced later.
