Gene was an avid sportsman who loved deer hunting and great lakes salmon fishing to include 18 years of Rice Lake, Ontario fishing. Gene retired from a career of truck driving; driving for USF, A&R, and most recently Advanced Trucking. Gene was a proud veteran serving in the Army where he met his wife Therese while stationed in Munich, Germany. Gene was a man of faith and attended North Blendon Reformed Church with his wife.
Gene was preceded in death by his parents Paul and Irene Potter, brothers Tom Potter, Ken Potter, and sister Joyce Renwick.
He is survived by his wife of 58 years Therese and their sons: Howard (Helen) Potter, Andrew J. (Patricia) Potter, Ronald Potter, Timothy Potter; Grandchildren: Paul (Paige) Potter, Andrew W. Potter, Hannah Potter; Brothers and sisters: Earl Potter, Jim Potter, Pat Peterson, Rosemary (Lee) Vanbeek, Charles Potter, Marvin (Loshie) Potter, Edward (Chris) Potter, Elizabeth Janssen, Jack Potter; Many nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, December 9, at North Blendon Reformed Church, 7224 Taylor in Hudsonville from 6:00-8:00pm. Masks are encouraged. Funeral services will be held Thursday, December 10, at North Blendon Reformed Church at 11:00am. The family will greet visitors an hour prior to services. Guests are also invited to tune into services from their vehicles in the parking lot of church on AM channel 1630. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the North Blendon Reformed Church “Mission Fund” – 7224 Taylor, Hudsonville, MI 49426 and/or Spectrum Hospice of Grand Rapids – 750 Fuller Ave NE, Grand Rapids, MI 49503.
