Angelie (“Angie”) Rees, age 91, passed away on the evening of Wednesday, October 9 at Holland Hospital, due to endocarditis. Angie was born May 1, 1933, on the Manitoulin Island in Little Current Ontario, Canada.
Angie was a dedicated wife and mother who supported her family in the home while her children were young. After raising her family, she worked office jobs and provided in- home daycare for others. Angie was an integral part of a large and closely-knit extended family. She hosted many dinners, showers, reunions and holidays. She was especially known for her pot roast, homemade baked goods and delicious jello. Her pies were notorious at family gatherings and church events & bake sales. Her crust recipe was often requested by family and friends (the secret ingredient: lard). Angie was very social and loved to be active, contributing in her local church, volunteering for charities such as Wings of Mercy, square dancing, traveling and teaching her grandchildren to play cribbage until they could almost beat her. Angie had saving faith in her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ and is presently in heaven rejoicing with the saints and being reunited with those who have gone before.
Angie is predeceased by Lawrence Rees, her husband of 61 years, son Steven Rees, parents, Thomas and Zoe Noble, sister Muriel (“Mert”) Mendrek, and her brother Reginald (“Reg”) Noble. Angie is survived by her: children Kristine (Brad) Carlton of Grand Rapids, MI, Brian (Keri) Rees of Holland MI, and daughter-in-law Darlene Rees of Joshua, TX. Angie has nine grandchildren, four great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
