She was born in Jacksonville, Florida to the late William “Bill” T. Roper, Sr. and Eugenia Wilburn Roper. Ginsie was a graduate of Brainerd High School, attended Shorter College and received her Paralegal Degree from Cleveland State Community College. She worked with her father for a short time in his law firm. Virginia was employed with K-Mart for many years and was then in customer service for Wal-Mart until she became ill in 2011. She was a former member of Central Baptist Church, Woodmore and currently attended GraceWorks Church. Ginsie was a loving friend, devoted sister and was adored by her niece and nephews. She treasured her special relationship and time spent with her brother-in-law, John. She was an avid reader, a vintage movie fan and a compassionate animal lover and advocate.
She is survived by her two sisters, Caroline Roper (John) Davis of Hixson and Elizabeth Roper (Al) Thomas of Rome, Georgia; brother, William “Bill” T. Roper, Jr. of Chattanooga; niece and nephews, Zander Davis and Jackson Davis of Hixson, Haley Thomas (Jared) Hall and Auston Thomas of Rome, Georgia and Jeremy Roper of Chattanooga; special friend, Bobby Waters.
There will be no visitation at the funeral home.
A private family service will be held for Ginsie.
The family has asked that memorial contributions be made in Virginia’s name to McKamey Animal Shelter, 4500 North Access Road, Chattanooga, Tennessee 37415 or www.mckameyanimalcenter.org
Arrangements are by the North Chapel of Chattanooga Funeral Home, Crematory and Florist, 5401 Highway 153, Hixson.
