Violet was a faithful member and servant at Hamilton Baptist Church for over 58 years. She retired from the Hamilton County Public Schools with over 40 years of service. Some of her favorite things were cooking, especially for her family, and gardening.
She was preceded in death by her parents, William and Ines Wilson; her six siblings, Ethel, Maudie, Alice, Ruby, Gene, and Elizabeth; three siblings who died in infancy; and one great grandchild.
Those left to cherish her memory include her loving husband of almost 66 years, George T. Smith; her sons, Brad Smith (Denise) of Chattanooga, TN, Scottie Smith (Rita) of Georgetown, TN, Chris Smith (Heather) of West Chester, PA, Paul Smith (Wendy) of Hixson, TN; daughter, Crystal Ward (Jonathan) of Cleveland, TN; 10 grandchildren, 4 great grandchildren and numerous nephews and nieces.
The family will receive friends on Friday, May 5th from 4-7 pm at Chattanooga Funeral Home North Chapel, Hixson. The funeral will be at 10:00 am Saturday, May 6th in the funeral home chapel with Pastor Virgil Smith officiating. Interment will follow at Long Cemetery in Clinton, TN at 3:00 pm
