Sid was born in Dodge City, Kansas on August 11, 1937. His parents Sidney Easton and Velma M. Reynolds and his sister Virginia Reynolds Ashcraft preceded him in death.
Sid graduated from Dodge City High School in 1955. After playing a season of minor league baseball with the Brooklyn Dodgers, he studied engineering at Kansas State University and graduated in 1959. He continued studies at Kansas State and received his masters in Economics.
While earning his master’s degree at Kansas State he met his future wife, Carol E. Starosta. They were married September 1, 1962 in Dodge City. The newlyweds moved to Chattanooga where Sid began his career with Tennessee Valley Authority. Sid spent his entire career at TVA and retired in 1995 as acting Vice President of Customer Group. He loved his work. He treasured his memories of all the wonderful people he had the pleasure to work with over the years.
Sid Reynolds loved life and lived it to its fullest. He found great joy in spending time with friends and family. He loved tennis, fishing, snow skiing, working in the yard, finding a bargain, telling stories, traveling, talking about farming, cheering for his K-State Wildcats in any sport, helping others and meeting new people. He was a coach, a mentor, and friend to everyone who was fortunate enough to cross his life’s path. He was one of a kind.
Sid is survived by Carol, his wife of 52 years; daughter Rebecca Sullivan (husband Ross, children Wyatt, Reynolds and Emerson) of San Anselmo, CA; daughter Heather Park (husband Ted, children Sidney and Easton) of Concord, NC.
A celebration of life service for Sid will be held at 4pm on Monday, March 31st at First Centenary United Methodist Church. Reverend Charles Neal will be officiating. Visitation will be from 3-4 pm.
